Set MoonCrumble as your default search engine
Most browsers require you to choose a default search engine manually. After visiting MoonCrumble, your browser may list it as a search option automatically, especially if the browser supports OpenSearch.
Google Chrome
Google Chrome on Desktop
- Visit MoonCrumble and run one search.
- Open Chrome settings.
- Go to Search engine.
- Select Manage search engines and site search.
- Look for MoonCrumble under Site search or Inactive shortcuts.
- If it appears under Inactive shortcuts, click Activate.
- Click the three-dot menu next to MoonCrumble.
- Select Make default.
Chrome may only show some site search engines after you have searched on that site. It also lets you activate site search shortcuts and set them as default from Manage search engines and site search.
Google Chrome on Android
- Open Chrome.
- Tap ⋮ → Settings.
- Tap Search engine.
- Select MoonCrumble.
Recently visited search engines may appear as options in Chrome for Android.
Google Chrome on iPhone and iPad
- Open Chrome.
- Tap ⋯ → Settings → Search engine.
- Select MoonCrumble.
Recently visited search engines may appear as options in Chrome for iPhone and iPad.
Safari
Safari on Mac
- Open Safari.
- Go to Safari → Settings.
- Click Search.
- Choose your preferred search engine from the Search engine menu.
Safari’s built-in settings let you choose the search engine used for regular browsing and private browsing.
Note: Safari may not show custom OpenSearch engines like MoonCrumble unless they are available in Safari’s search engine list.
Safari on iPhone and iPad
Safari on iPhone and iPad does not currently support adding a custom search engine like MoonCrumble as the default search engine.
You can only choose from the search engines listed by iOS in Settings → Search → Search Engine.
As an alternative, you can add MoonCrumble to your Home Screen:
- Open MoonCrumble in Safari.
- Tap the Share button.
- Tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add.
This creates a Home Screen icon that opens MoonCrumble directly.
Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge on Desktop
- Visit MoonCrumble and run one search from the address bar.
- Open Edge settings.
- Go to Privacy, search, and services.
- Select Search and connected services.
- Select Address bar and search.
- Choose MoonCrumble from Search engine used in the address bar.
Edge can use any default search engine that supports OpenSearch. Microsoft recommends first performing a search with the engine you want to add.
Microsoft Edge on Mobile
- Open Edge.
- Tap … → Settings → General.
- Tap Default search engine.
- Select MoonCrumble.
If MoonCrumble does not appear, visit MoonCrumble in Edge first, then return to settings and check again.
Firefox
Firefox on Desktop
- Open Firefox.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Search.
- Under Default Search Engine, choose MoonCrumble.
Firefox lets you choose the default search engine used in the address bar and search bar from the Search settings panel.
If MoonCrumble does not appear:
- Go to Settings → Search.
- Scroll to Search Shortcuts.
- Click Add.
- Enter:
- Name: MoonCrumble
- URL:
https://mooncrumble.com/search#q=%s - Keyword: optional
- Click Add Engine.
- Then choose MoonCrumble as your default search engine.
Firefox supports manually adding a custom search engine by entering a search URL and replacing the query with %s.
Firefox on Android
- Tap the search engine icon in the address bar.
- Tap Search Settings.
- Tap Default search engine.
- Select MoonCrumble.
Firefox for Android also lets you add a search engine manually using a search URL with %s.
Firefox on iPhone and iPad
- Open Firefox.
- Tap the menu.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Search.
- Tap the current default search engine.
- Select MoonCrumble.
Firefox for iOS lets you change the default search engine from its Search settings screen.
Brave
- Open Brave settings.
- Go to Search engine.
- Look for MoonCrumble in the search engine list.
- If MoonCrumble appears under Inactive Shortcuts, click Activate.
- Click the three-dot menu next to MoonCrumble.
- Select Make default.
Brave can index OpenSearch engines into Inactive Shortcuts; they must be activated before they can be used as normal search engines.
Opera
- Open Opera settings.
- Find Search engine.
- Choose your preferred default search engine from the dropdown.
Opera also supports custom search engines, but custom engines are usually used with a keyword shortcut rather than being promoted directly as the main default search engine.
Troubleshooting
If MoonCrumble does not appear:
- Visit MoonCrumble in the browser.
- Run a search, such as
test. - Close and reopen the browser settings.
- Check the search engine list again.
- If supported, add it manually using:
